MoonShine
aquarium moon lights produce a soft beautiful glow
simulating a full moon on a clear night. This allows the viewing of your
nocturnal creatures and stimulates
spawning and breeding. It's been said that having moon lights in your
aquarium is like having an additional, totally different aquarium.
The MoonShine kits are very easy to install and are available in 2, 3, 4 |
or 5 LED configurations. If you need more than 5, we can manufacture
custom setups for a minimal charge.
The light sources are high-intensity LEDs (Light Emiting Diodes). These solid state devices last much longer than regular bulbs and do not change their light frequency over time. MoonShine lights are shipped complete with removable power supply (wall adapter) for ease of installation as well as LED holder hardware and instructions. Also available with European power supply. |

Installation Simply make one hole per LED in your reflector 12 inches apart. The holes should be just large enough to accommodate the plastic LED holder.
Insert the plastic LED holder up through the bottom of the reflector and fix in place with adhesive (super glue works well).
Slide the LEDs into the LED holders. The LEDs will snap in place..
A note about the power supply. It has become apparent to me that some in the aquarium trade are referring to the power supply for moon-lights as "the ballast". Let me assure all of you that it is NOT a "ballast" like on your flourecents. It is simply a DC power supply just like your cell phone charger or an adapter for a desktop calculator... nothing special. This is true not only of MoonShine units, but ALL LED based moon lights. As a matter of fact, if the power supply should happen to fail or somehow get destroyed, you can replace it with any power supply of the same voltage and similar amperage (100 ma or above). Unlike the competitors' units, MoonShine units actually include a voltage-regulator device which means you can use ANY DC adapter from 5 Volts to 24 Volts. Should the original power supply fail for any reason, you can run down to Radio Shack and get a 9V DC (for example) adapter and compatible plug and be fixed in minutes. Alternately, you can order a power supply from us, free if it fails during the first year (due to defect), $6 plus shipping after that. Payment Methods (Florida residents will be charged 6% sales tax)
